Throughout my undergraduate studies, I took part in many diverse classrooms. Being in the Urban Educators Cohort Program (UECP) allowed me to be in classrooms almost constantly. There, I learned how to interact with students, differentiate based on student needs, and how to communicate with parents, staff, and administrators.

Fifth Grade Teacher

As a teacher, I have been able to teach diverse students with a wide range of needs. I have adapted new curriculum for multiple subjects as well as being trained in Project Based Learning. I have learned how to integrate 1:1 technology and find a balance between traditional and digital education. I communicate well with students, parents, staff, and administrators to provide the highest level of education for my students. I also work to coordinate grade-level, educational field trips.

Teacher Intern

For an entire school year, I was able to work alongside a professional educator in a fifth grade classroom. I built relationships with students, taught units, and learned what the job of a teacher encompasses. I partnered with another intern and mentor teacher in order to implement my units as well as collaborating with other interns in the building to complete coursework.

Summer Camp Teacher

During the summer, I serve as the lead teacher for the school-aged students (ages 5-9). I have created a continuing education program for these students to continue learning once the school year ends. I coordinate field trips and plan fun, hands-on activities for each day.
